Hannah's Chairs Archive: Auction 2006!

The Hannah House Chairs 2006 event, held on June 25th at a gala event at the Daniel Webster Room at the Hanover Inn, was a great success, following upon the successful first-year event in 2005.

At left, be a "Suncatcher" relaxing in this dazzling chair - and right on the comfort of your own lawn! The artist is Luci Wilson. See this one on pre-auction display at St. Thomas Episcopal Church. Right, "Fish Crazy" by Arlene Rutledge would make a great companion piece, with its palm trees and brightly colored tropical fish. This one even comes with a chair pad! (Check out those little sea turtles on the arms of the chair.) The chair can be previewed at Bridgeman's.

"Drawn to the Flame" is the work of artist Abby Clough, who has skillfully used the knots and grain in the natural wood to suggest her theme. Note how the sunbursts on the arm of the chair echo the form of the wood knots. This lovely chair can be seen at Pearce Jewelry.

Susan Johnson's "Peacock" chair (right) certainly lives up to its name, with the slats of the chairback suggesting the fanning tail of the bird. Catch this stunner on pre-auction display at Ledyard Bank in New London.

A whimsically inventive design by Christine Hauck in "Aerial Views" features more than just a sky with fluffy clouds. Remember when you were a kid and used to love to "find things" in the clouds? Well, that's what this chair does, with white animals such as mice and polar bears hidden in the cloud forms! See it at Mascoma Savings Bank in Lebanon.

"Grandmother's Garden Chair" by Kelley Marcou has a lovely Victorian look to it. I love how the heart design climbs like a vine over the struts of the chair's back! It will be found on preauction display at Mascoma Savings Bank.

This lovely and unusual treatment is "Spring Songs" by Barbara McAllister. If people say the finches in this chair look like they're about to fly right out of the painting... well, they're not kidding! Preview it at Ledyard Bank in Hanover.
